Annie's Bracelet Tutorial
Marcia has a lifelong passion for jewelry. As a young girl she remembers going thru her mother’s jewelry box and fondling each treasure. That passion has led to beading as the outlet for her creative energies. She started making her own jewelry as a teenager during the ‘hippie’ years. She jokingly says that was more than 5 years ago. Later she worked with clay, polymer clay, Macramé, wire, paper, and more. She often saw the possibility of a ‘bead’ in the environment. Many of her fun designs using unusual materials were published in various mixed media magazines and booklets.
During her 35 year financial career, she traveled around the country for work and often took art classes to relax. Marcia then began teaching jewelry at various venues including conventions, stores, and adult education centers. She found teaching beading a great way to share her passion for jewelry. In retirement, she has happily gone from being a “Bean Counter” in the financial world to counting beads.
Designing with beads and creating patterns has let to opening an Etsy shop where she sells primarily patterns and kits. Her talent for bead pattern construction led to 3 years as a Starman Trendsetter. Currently she is with the BeadSmith Inspiration Squad.
Now living in Florida, she enjoys teaching jewelry at local bead stores, at retreats, regional conventions as well as the annual Bead and Button convention in Milwaukee, WI and BeadFest Philly in August. She was published several times in Bead and Button and also in Beadwork, Bead and Jewellery, BeadMe, and Perlen Poesie.
